ELO DRUMMER WANTS TO MAKE PEACE WITH GROUP’S FRONTMAN
The Electric Light Orchestra’s founding drummer, Bev Bevan, hopes that the group’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame next April will put an end to his 30-year rift with frontman Jeff Lynne. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Bevan admitted, “I hope we shake hands. I definitely do hope that happens. I think I’m certainly at an age now where I don’t want to bear grudges or have enemies. I just want to make friends. I’d be pleased to do it.”

Bevan and Lynne argued over the legal rights to the band’s moniker after Lynne initially broke up the group. Though the two reached an agreement, Bevan reveals that while he plans to attend the ceremony, he isn’t sure if Lynne will allow him to perform with ELO. He said, “It would be nice. Even if I just got up and played one song or played tambourine or something, I don’t care.”

Other inductees of the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame include Journey, Yes, Pearl Jam, Joan Baez, Tupac Shakur, with Chic’s Nile Rodgers tapped for the Award for Musical Excellence.
The induction ceremony will be held on April 7th at Brooklyn, New York’s Barclays Center, with a truncated version of the evening’s events airing on HBO later this spring.
